Job description

Construction And Building Inspector

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Construction and Building Inspector to perform technical inspections of buildings, infrastructure, and fabrication projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying workmanship and materials used in construction or fabrication activities and documenting compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect construction, fabrication, and installation projects to ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, engineering specifications, and contract documents.
  • Review blueprints, engineering plans, and specifications to understand project scope and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor activities such as welding, structural assembly, utility connections, and other critical construction processes.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil systems based on the inspector's area of specialization.
  • Identify non-compliance issues, prepare detailed inspection reports, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Issue violation notices or stop-work orders when standards are not met or safety concerns are identified.
  • Document findings, maintain inspection logs, and ensure records are complete, accurate, and filed per company and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to contractors, site managers, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure technical issues are resolved effectively and timely.
  • Stay informed of changes in construction regulations, codes, and safety standards.
  • Requirements:

    • Graduate degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial or equivalent discipline
    • Minimum of 5–10 years of inspection experience in building construction, fabrication, or infrastructure projects.
    • Certification(s) such as ICC, AWS-CWI, NACE, ASNT Level II, or equivalent highly desirable depending on area of specialty.
    • Solid knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and quality practices applicable to commercial and industrial construction.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
    • Proficient in using inspection tools and technologies, including measurement devices and reporting software.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with diverse teams and vendors.
    • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple inspections efficiently.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple job sites as needed.
