Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical care at a military and law enforcement training facility. This position delivers rapid assessment, treatment, stabilization, and medical support for students, staff, contractors, and visitors participating in high-risk training operations.
Paramedics operate as part of a non-transport EMS system and are responsible for responding to medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, environmental exposures, and training-related incidents occurring throughout the facility. Duties include patient assessment, advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, medication
administration, trauma care, and coordination with local transporting EMS agencies and hospitals when higher levels of care are required.
In addition to emergency response responsibilities, paramedics support operational readiness through equipment maintenance, documentation, training support, safety monitoring, and participation in emergency preparedness activities. Personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and exceptional customer service while operating in dynamic training environments.
This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, adapt to changing operational needs, and function effectively alongside security, fire brigade, military, and law enforcement personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care for students, staff, contractors, and visitors at military and law enforcement training facilities.
• Perform rapid patient assessment, triage, stabilization, and treatment for traumatic injuries, medical emergencies, and environmental exposures.
• Administer medications, perform advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, IV/IO access, hemorrhage control, splinting, and other ALS interventions in accordance with state protocols and company policies.
• Coordinate patient care and transfer with local transporting EMS agencies, fire departments, hospitals, and emergency communications centers
• Operate and maintain ALS quick response vehicles and ensure all medical equipment, supplies, and medications remain operational, compliant, and properly stocked.
• Provide standby medical coverage for high-risk training evolutions, live-fire exercises, tactical operations, K9 training, vehicle operations, and special events.
• Conduct detailed patient care documentation and complete incident reports accurately and professionally
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning, mass casualty response preparation, and active threat/ASHER response operations.
• Work collaboratively with security personnel, range staff, instructors, maintenance personnel, and outside emergency responders during emergency incidents.
• Monitor training environments for safety concerns and respond proactively to potential medical hazards.
• Maintain compliance with state EMS certification requirements, continuing education, credentialing, and company-mandated training.
• Assist with training personnel in CPR, first aid, tactical emergency casualty care (TECC/TCCC), and emergency response procedures as assigned.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing operational conditions.
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
• North Carolina Paramedic certification (or the ability to obtain through reciprocity)
• Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Healthcare Level CPR
• Valid Privilege to Practice (P2P)
• Technical Scope of Practice (preferred but will assist in obtaining your TSOPs)
• NIMS 100, 200,700, and 800
• Certified Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (from and Recognized certifying agency)
