Description

 This position is for the 26-27 School Year with a start date of August 10th.  The Connect Academy is an organization with multiple campuses.  All campuses have open positions posted for the next year.  Connect Academy Carol Stream is a PreK-8 building servicing students with challenging, sometimes aggressive behaviors.  The High School campus is located in Addison.  The Lombard location serves PreK-3 students with autism who are nonverbal/minimally verbal as a bridge to public elementary school.  ReConnect serves general education students as an alternative setting, often in lieu of expulsion.  All provide comprehensive therapeutic services to address social-emotional and functional needs to support access to learning in addition to standards-based academics. 

Administrative Assistant Job Description

Employment Type: Full-time | Nonexempt

Reports To: Site Administrator

Mission: The mission of our program is to provide our students with a high quality of education that offers instruction in both academic and social/emotional realms. The purpose of the academy is to provide students with social/emotional/behavioral issues a state-of-the-art therapeutic day program. Through hands-on instructional experiences, as well as a therapeutic approach in art, music, and movement, the program is designed to meet all of the needs of this diverse student population.

Job Summary: The Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact for visitors, students, and families, helping to create a welcoming and supportive school environment. This role is responsible for front office operations, general administrative support, and assisting staff with daily operational needs to ensure the school runs efficiently.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Welcome all visitors, including students, parents, staff, and external parties, with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
  • Handle incoming calls, route them to the appropriate personnel, and provide information or assistance as needed.
  • Maintain a log of students and adults arriving and leaving the school and ensure that proper protocols are followed for student safety.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, creating documents and reports, and managing school records.
  • Coordinate appointments, meetings, IEP meetings, and events, ensuring that they run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Distribute important notices, newsletters, student report cards, and other relevant school information to students, families, and district partners.
  • Work closely with school district partners to coordinate transportation services for Connect Academy students.
  • Maintain student files such that all student files meet compliance requirements.
  • Monitor the school's security system and follow emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary materials.
  • Work closely with school staff to ensure smooth daily operations, including coordinating student transportation, ordering breakfasts and lunches, and assisting with special events.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain the confidentiality of all school-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
