Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric and dairy digester facilities. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline.
About the role
In this role, you act as a chief executive of your projects, with full accountability for the budget, scope and schedule to the customer and Conifer management. You deliver manufactured equipment projects within defined timeframes and budgets while meeting specific customer, internal, and industry requirements. You develop the project execution concept during the proposal phase and manage all aspects of the project going through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, field installation, startup, and commissioning. You manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders. You plan and direct your own and others' workflows to make sure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, timely and that customer and company expectations are met or exceeded. You ensure compliance with Conifer's Quality Assurance program, job requirements, and Conifer standards.
This position requires an experienced, energetic, and detail-focused individual, who wants to be part of a growing team and company. The ideal candidate will have a background in the manufacturing of capital industrial equipment and have the drive, organizational, and technical skills required to successfully manage equipment projects in a fast-paced growing environment.
Key accountabilities
  • Plan and execute multiple engineered equipment projects typically ranging $500K - $3MM in CAPEX and 6-8 months in duration
  • Work hand-in-hand with engineering to ensure all customer, regulatory, and standard requirements are incorporated into equipment designs
  • Develop and maintain schedules and budgets in line with the contract and customer expectations
  • Control costs in accordance with project budgets and optimize margin
  • Identify and manage risks throughout project duration
  • Develop and maintain accurate project cash flow projections, and coordinate with accounting
  • Identify project staffing requirements, and coordinate staffing with applicable functional groups
  • Act as a primary point of contact with customers to build and maintain a strong relationship
  • Provide exceptional customer service, with an eye toward repeat business
  • Provide status and progress reports to customers, project team, and management
  • Ensure proper change management, prepare, and negotiate change orders as required with appropriate adjustments in price, cost, and schedule
  • Coordinate the flow of information to and from the customer and project team
  • Organize and run review meetings, ensuring that all prerequisites and deliverables are in line with the GCES stage gate process
  • Manage timing of project milestones related to receivables and payables so that the project remains cash-neutral/positive throughout the entire duration
  • Coordinate preparation of work orders, drawings, bills of materials, and other technical documents from engineering to manufacturing and purchasing
  • Work with engineering and purchasing to identify and qualify sources and suppliers, including make/buy/outsourcing decisions and alternate sourcing
  • Coordinate development and oversee implementation of ITP, NDE, pressure, FAT, SAT, etc.
  • Work with Aftermarket to coordinate installation, startup, and SAT activities at customer site
  • Lead the project close-out and post-mortem reviews and make sure lessons learned are documented and incorporated into relevant procedures and redlines from the shop and field are provided to engineering

Essential education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related technical field, or a demonstrated equivalent knowledge expertise, gained through training and experience

Essential experience
  • Project management experience in a manufacturing environment, building products from concept through engineering, manufacturing, installation, and support
  • Good understanding of Risk Management and Project Controls principles
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and experience maintaining a budget with WBS breakdown.
  • Flexible and adaptive to scope and priority changes
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills
  • Ability to direct and work well with others
  • Self-directed
  • Willing to work overtime as necessary
  • Creativity and analytical skills
  • Strong manufacturing knowledge, including fabrication, welding, assembly, testing, and field work

  • Willingness to travel periodically, approx. 10-20%

How much do we pay? $100,000 - $120,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 - 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
