Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Configuration Manager to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and sustain the enterprise Configuration Management Program and Configuration Management Plan (CMP) governing identification, control, auditing, and status accounting for systems, software, and hardware.
  • Define and enforce version control, baseline management, release management, and traceability processes across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), convene/change control boards, and manage configuration change reviews to ensure compliance with DoD/Army/organizational standards.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, release schedules, verification/audit activities, and configuration item (CI) registries to support traceability and audit readiness.
  • Integrate CM processes with project management, NOC operations, cybersecurity, and system administration to support 24/7/365 service availability and operational change control.
  • Oversee lifecycle transitions, installation/configuration at customer sites, and accountability of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) with asset baselining and reconciliation.
  • Produce CM status reports, baseline change logs, POA&Ms for configuration discrepancies, and decision-grade briefings for program leadership.
  • Lead CM tool selection, automation, and process improvement initiatives to modernize CM capabilities and improve operational readiness and data integrity.
  • Support surge efforts and special projects requiring rapid configuration, documentation, and controlled deployments.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:
    • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (example: System Testing and Evaluation Specialist (Advanced) Playlist); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (example: CCSP).
  • Required experience and skills:
    • Configuration management, release management, or systems engineering experience with at least 3 years leading enterprise CM programs.
    • Deep knowledge of CM processes: baseline management, version control systems, CI/CD integration, change control boards, and ECP management.
    • Experience coordinating CM with NOC, cybersecurity/RMF teams, system administrators, and program management in 24/7 operational environments.
    • Proficiency with CM/ALM tools, CMDB/asset registries, version control systems, and automated build/release pipelines.
    • Strong documentation, audit/evidence preparation, and briefing skills for senior leadership and compliance reviews.
  • Desired:
    • Prior DoD/Army/ARNG program CM experience and familiarity with DoDIN/DoD configuration governance.
    • Experience with automated configuration management, infrastructure-as-code (IaC) patterns, and integration of CM with DevSecOps pipelines.
    • Demonstrated success modernizing CM toolchains and improving process maturity across distributed programs.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
