Configuration management is a systematic process for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product’s performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life. In IT and software development, it helps track and control changes in software, hardware, documents, and other critical assets. The goal is to ensure that the integrity and traceability of configurations are maintained over time, reducing errors and improving efficiency.
