Join our first-class team to reinvent in-flight experience. In the role of Configuration Engineering & Document Control Manager you'll play a pivotal part on our Research Design & Development team.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the activities of the configuration management engineers and document control personnel to meet program and customer requirements.
  • Lead and manage all configuration management related activities and ensure that customer configuration management requirements are implemented.
  • Manage and support a team of CCB administrators (direct and indirect) division wide to release engineering.
  • Forecast CCB workload based on engineering release dates for multiple programs.
  • Allocate CCB resources in order to reduce release bottlenecks and prevent release delays.
  • Train and support CCB administrators in the engineering release process.
  • Review change status accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies.
  • Develop, implement and enforce configuration management processes through the organization.
  • Prepare, review, and approve the documentation required to control engineering data. Support both external and internal customers as required.
  • Prepare summary reports and metrics of the configuration management process for internal management and the customer.
  • Perform, evaluate, and refine Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities and processes.
  • Perform, evaluate, and refine configuration status accounting reporting (CSAR) activities. Recommend and implement improvements.
  • Responsible for preparing configuration management recurring cost estimates at the proposal phase and during the course of projects.
  • Collaborate with organization department and Safran leadership to find cost-effective paths to configuration management.
  • Coordination of training for all employees involved in the engineering release process.
  • Track and report to engineering managers average release time for each facility.
  • Monitor and resolve, if necessary, engineering data revision discrepancies.
  • Maintain release procedure tools specific to customer programs.
  • Create and maintain procedural documentation for release processes of each customer program.
  • Create and maintain SmarTeam workflow procedures for both engineering and general segment-wide documents.
  • Work alongside Engineering Applications Managers to create, maintain, and improve existing customization related to workflows and release. procedures.
  • Monitors scheduling and department resources to meet/exceed business objectives and goals.
  • Recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The Configuration Engineering & Document Control Manager's responsibility is to direct and oversee all activities relating to configuration management and document control. The manager provides expertise to the organization in all aspects of configuration management and document control management.

Candidate skills & requirements

Qualifications:
Education:
BS or BA degree in Business Management, Engineering or equivalent in a related field (e.g. Information Systems) required.

Experience:
At least 7 years related work experience in configuration management. Aerospace industry experience is strongly preferred. At least two years people management/leadership experience.
Computer Skills:
Strong knowledge of PLM systems (Product Life Cycle Management)
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong knowledge of MRP systems.
Good knowledge of SmarTeam.

Other Skills:
  • Experience working with OEM.
  • Experience with industrialization processes and supply chain interactions.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience coaching and managing a team of engineers including conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Business acumen to assist in establishing budgets, providing program health metrics to management, make recommendations for resourcing programs.
  • Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally.
  • Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop, implement and monitor corrective action plans.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering information flow and concept.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with attention to detail.

Additional Preferred Skills: (not required)
  • Good working knowledge of CATIA V5 & Smarteam preferred.
  • Knowledge of databases is preferred.
  • Black Belt Six Sigma.
