Job description

Configuration Control Specialist

The Configuration Control Specialist supports the maintenance and control of the Quality Management System (QMS) documentation within an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment. This role is responsible for document distribution, record retention, and administrative support of document control processes. The position also supports manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining visual aids, work instructions, and product routings, while collaborating cross-functionally to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuous process improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the maintenance of the Quality Management System and all pertinent documentation.
  • Distribute controlled documents, including prints and specifications, to appropriate departments.
  • File, scan, and maintain accurate records in accordance with document control procedures.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) files and documentation.
  • Perform general administrative duties related to the Document Control function.
  • Develop and maintain visual aids and work instructions for PCA (Printed Circuit Assembly) and Box Build manufacturing areas.
  • Develop and update product routings within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to provide NPI support, including creation of visual aids and work instructions.
  • Revise and update visual aids and work instructions based on assembly trials, engineering reviews, and operational feedback to support process improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 + years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
  • Experience in a Document Control or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing or EMS environment is a plus.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in standard office software.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment (printer, scanner, copier, etc.).
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain document accuracy and integrity.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas as needed.
