Job description

About the Role
Do you take pride in ensuring mission-critical electrical infrastructure is installed, documented, tested, and turned over with precision? We are seeking a Field Engineer / Project Engineer to support Division 26 Electrical construction projects within commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, and data center environments.
In this role, you will serve as a key link between project management, field operations, quality assurance, subcontractors, and client stakeholders. You will support the delivery of electrical power distribution systems while ensuring compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, safety standards, quality requirements, and commissioning milestones.
This position offers a strong growth path toward Project Manager and Senior Project Manager roles while building expertise in complex electrical construction and mission-critical project delivery.
What You'll Do
  • Provide daily support to Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams on active Division 26 electrical construction projects.
  • Coordinate installation activities involving medium- and low-voltage power distribution, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, feeders, branch circuits, grounding, lighting, and emergency power systems.
  • Assist with field issue resolution and communicate design, installation, and documentation requirements to project teams.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, redlines, as-built drawings, closeout documents, and turnover packages.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment layouts, conduit routing, and installation details.
  • Identify constructability concerns, design conflicts, and scope gaps before they impact schedule or project quality.
  • Ensure field documentation accurately reflects installed conditions.
  • Support QA/QC activities throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate electrical testing, inspections, and commissioning activities, including equipment startup, functional testing, and system verification.
  • Verify compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, client standards, and project specifications.
  • Track deficiency items, punch lists, corrective actions, and turnover readiness.
  • Interface with owners, general contractors, commissioning teams, design consultants, inspectors, and trade partners.
  • Provide status updates regarding installation progress, documentation, testing, and project milestones.
  • Participate in project meetings, quality reviews, scheduling meetings, and milestone planning sessions.
  • Track installation progress, labor productivity, and project performance metrics.
  • Support forecasting, procurement coordination, billing documentation, material tracking, and change order development.
  • Coordinate closely with Estimating, Procurement, Engineering, Safety, QA/QC, and Operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist Project Managers with schedule updates, risk identification, and project planning.
What You Bring
  • Understanding of Division 26 electrical construction systems and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of commercial or industrial electrical installations, power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, emergency power, and electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical inspections, testing, commissioning, and project closeout requirements.
  • Ability to interpret electrical construction drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Desire to grow into Project Manager and construction leadership roles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1 to 3 years of experience supporting Division 26 electrical construction projects.
  • Experience working with commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, or data center electrical systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, OSHA regulations, and electrical construction best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, Smartsheet, or similar construction management platforms.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • EIT, FE, PMP-track, or other construction-related certifications are a plus.
What's in It for You?
  • Mission-Critical Impact: Contribute to complex electrical infrastructure projects supporting data centers, healthcare facilities, manufacturing, commercial buildings, and other mission-critical environments.
  • Career Growth: Build a clear path toward Project Manager and Senior Project Manager roles through hands-on project experience and leadership development.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Engineers, and commissioning teams on high-profile projects.
  • Client Interaction: Gain exposure to owners, design engineers, general contractors, and executive project leadership while developing strong client relationship skills.
  • Competitive Pay amp; Benefits: Compensation aligned with experience, technical expertise, and career growth.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on construction role with responsibilities split between active project sites and office-based project coordination. Work may include walking active construction sites, climbing ladders, navigating unfinished structures, lifting up to 40 pounds, and extended periods of computer work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
