Headquartered in McPherson, Kansas, McPherson Concrete Companies include Wichita Concrete Pipe, Inc., McPherson Concrete Products, Inc., McPherson Concrete Storage Systems, Inc., and DFW Concrete Products. Together, we are a leading Midwest provider of precast and pre-stressed concrete products, storage systems, and ready-mix concrete. McPherson Concrete Storage Systems manufactures concrete silos and water tower posts, which often require work at high elevations and travel to remote job sites.
Position Overview
We are seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our construction crew. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, can handle physical work in all weather conditions, and is willing to travel when needed for projects across the region.
Responsibilities
  • Work safely in all weather conditions
  • Perform duties at high elevations (up to 150 feet)
  • Travel to remote job sites; typical schedule is Monday through Friday
    • Some projects farther away may involve 10-14 day trips
  • Operate small tools and equipment, including:
    • Cement, plaster, and mortar mixers
    • Saws
    • Drills
    • Concrete vibrators
    • Telescoping forklifts
    • Skid loaders
    • Welders
  • Assist with concrete pouring, finishing, and rebar tying (experience preferred)
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and commitment to safety
Schedule
  • Monday to Friday (exception for far away projects; 10-14 day trips)
  • 10-12 hour shifts
  • Overtime as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights up to 150 feet
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods (including overnight and multi-day assignments)

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ months of experience in concrete, construction, or related heavy labor field within the past 5 years
  • Experience with concrete pouring, finishing, or rebar tying
  • Prior experience working on travel crews or remote job sites
  • Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ability to pass a drug test and physical capacity test
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work in a team environment
  • Based out of the Wichita area preferred for carpooling in company trucks (mileage is not reimbursed for personal vehicles to/from job sites)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay: $22.00 per hour minimum
  • Incentive/Production pay available after 2-week training period
    • Always guaranteed minimum hourly rate, with potential for higher pay based on crew production
  • $15 meal per diem when on the road (max $45/day)
  • Lodging provided for travel jobs
