Concrete Forming Jobs in Georgia (NOW HIRING)

McCarthy Concrete, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Concrete Form Carpenter for a multi-story UEPH barracks project at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

The Lead Concrete Form Carpenter will perform and lead concrete formwork operations while working closely with the project superintendent and field leadership. This is a hands-on field position for an experienced form carpenter who can lay out work, build and erect concrete forms, organize crews, coordinate materials and equipment, and maintain production.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with commercial, federal, military, or heavy concrete construction and is comfortable leading a crew while actively performing formwork alongside them.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform concrete formwork operations for foundations, walls, grade beams, footings, pile caps, equipment pads, stairs, and other cast-in-place concrete elements.
• Lay out concrete structures from project drawings, control lines, benchmarks, elevations, and dimensions.
• Build, erect, brace, align, plumb, and secure concrete forms.
• Install and work with handset, modular, panelized, gang-form, and other concrete forming systems as applicable to the project.
• Properly install form ties, walers, strongbacks, braces, chamfer strips, blockouts, bulkheads, construction joints, and related formwork components.
• Establish and verify form elevations, dimensions, wall thicknesses, openings, and concrete limits before placement.
• Coordinate formwork with reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, sleeves, penetrations, waterstops, and other concrete accessories.
• Inspect forms before concrete placement to verify dimensions, alignment, bracing, cleanliness, release agent application, and overall readiness.
• Ensure formwork is sufficiently supported and braced to safely withstand concrete placement operations.
• Coordinate with the project superintendent regarding upcoming concrete placements and formwork requirements.
• Determine manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for scheduled formwork operations.
• Direct and manage carpenters and laborers during formwork construction, concrete preparation, stripping, and resetting operations.
• Coordinate work with reinforcing crews, concrete finishers, laborers, pump operators, equipment operators, and other trades.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, structural drawings, elevations, sections, details, and project specifications.
• Identify discrepancies or constructability concerns and promptly communicate them to project supervision.
• Assist with concrete placement operations when necessary.
• Safely strip, clean, organize, and prepare formwork materials for reuse.
• Minimize material waste and damage to company-owned or rented formwork systems.
• Maintain productivity while ensuring work meets project tolerances and quality requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe formwork and work areas.
• Follow company safety policies, project-specific requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable federal construction safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum three years of concrete form carpentry experience; lead-level or foreman experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading concrete formwork crews.
• Strong knowledge of concrete forming methods and cast-in-place concrete construction.
• Experience forming foundations, walls, footings, grade beams, stairs, pads, and other structural concrete elements.
• Ability to accurately lay out work from construction drawings, benchmarks, elevations, and control lines.
• Ability to read structural drawings, plans, sections, and formwork details.
• Knowledge of formwork bracing, alignment, plumbing, stripping, and resetting procedures.
• Experience using standard concrete carpentry tools, including saws, drills, levels, lasers, rotary hammers, and layout equipment.
• Ability to calculate dimensions, elevations, quantities, and material requirements.
• Ability to organize manpower and maintain production during scheduled concrete operations.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to meet Fort Stewart installation-access, background-screening, and badging requirements.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding construction work in outdoor conditions.
• Ability to lift and handle concrete formwork materials and equipment.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on federal, military, heavy-civil, commercial, or other large-scale concrete projects.
• Experience with commercial modular or engineered concrete forming systems.
• Experience with manufacturers such as ULMA, Doka, PERI, EFCO, MEVA, Symons, or similar forming systems.
• Experience with multi-story concrete construction.
• Experience working from survey control, laser levels, and established elevation benchmarks.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Competent Person training related to excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, or other applicable construction activities.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.

Compensation

• $32.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and demonstrated formwork ability.
• Full-time, project-based employment.
• Project anticipated to continue through 2027.
