Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Concrete Formwork Drafter to prepare formwork shop drawings, concrete layout plans, and construction details for commercial, industrial, and civil projects. The ideal candidate will use CAD software to create accurate technical drawings based on engineering and architectural plans while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and field teams. A strong understanding of concrete formwork systems, structural drawings, and construction methods is essential to ensure all drawings meet project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed concrete formwork shop drawings and construction drawings using CAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or other drafting software.
  • Coordinate with project managers, structural engineers, and field superintendents to resolve design conflicts.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze architectural, structural, and engineering plans to produce accurate concrete formwork shop drawings and construction details.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure drawings are accurate, constructible, and compliant with project requirements.
  • Verify dimensions, elevations, and constructability prior to project release.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support fabrication and field installation teams with drawing clarification and technical assistance.
  • Review, revise, and update drawings to meet project specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations 
  • Manage documentation and filing systems for drawings and project records 
  • Identify potential design problems and suggest corrective measures.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in computer-aided design (CAD) software 
  • Strong understanding of technical drawing principles, spatial perception, and scale 
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members.
  • Effective Knowledge of CNC programming is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Continuous learning to stay updated with emerging drafting technologies and software 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional visits to construction sites may be required.
  • Ability to review large-format construction drawings and perform field measurements when necessary.
