JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Functions
  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials, including development of trial plans and authoring trial reports
  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups
  • Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability
  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Provide technical support for key departments
  • Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills to achieve department initiatives.
  • Provide process engineering support to increase manufacturing capacity, improve safety/quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Leverage process engineering capability to support production process continuous improvement using operational excellence tools.
  • Support capital project work from scoping through installation under technical supervision
  • Assist in the design and technical supervision of plant studies and contribute to the design of the final project installation.

Skills and Competencies
  • Understanding of 5S methodology and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
Education:
Degree: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology with a 3.0 or higher GPA
Minimum Year: Entering Junior year

Our interns begin work as early as mid May and work up until the middle of August. Expect 40 hours per week. You will participate in special events, & and outings. There is something for everyone as a summer intern at New York Air Brake!
