Job description

*Job Title:** Chief Estimator
**Location:** Houston, TX
**Job Type:** Permanent
**Job Summary:
** The Chief Estimator will lead the estimating department and oversee all aspects of the estimating processes. This role requires specialized knowledge in Doors, Frames, and Hardware, along with expertise in using Comsense software. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of estimates, leading a team of estimators, and collaborating with other departments to ensure successful project bids and execution.
*Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead and manage the estimating team, providing mentorship and training as needed.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for Doors, Frames, and Hardware projects.
  • Utilize Comsense software to prepare and manage estimates.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Analyze and evaluate bid opportunities, ensuring alignment with company capabilities and strategic goals.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential estimating challenges.
  • Prepare and present estimate reports to senior management and clients.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in estimating techniques and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
*Qualifications:**
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on Doors, Frames, and Hardware.
  • Proficiency in Comsense software is required.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
**Preferred Qualifications:** - Professional certifications in estimating or construction management. - Experience with project management software. - Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
