Sensible Recycling — Jacksonville, FL
$17/hour + Monthly Bonus | Full-Time | Monday–Friday Day Shift

Relevant electronics knowledge or hands-on experience is required. Please submit an updated resume that highlights your relevant experience.

About the Position

Sensible Recycling is hiring an Electronics Processing & Recovery Technician to sort, evaluate, and dismantle computers, consumer electronics, gadgets, and related equipment.

The position focuses on:

  • Processing: Sorting and dismantling incoming electronics
  • Recovery: Identifying equipment, parts, and materials that can be saved for resale, reuse, or recycling

This is not a general warehouse, order-picking, or forklift operator position. Applicants must have practical familiarity with computers, electronics, gadgets, or electronic components.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect and sort incoming computers, electronics, gadgets, and components
  • Identify complete equipment and parts that may have resale or reuse value
  • Determine what should be saved, reused for parts, or processed as scrap
  • Dismantle laptops, desktop computers, servers, and other electronic equipment
  • Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Remove reusable or valuable components without damaging them
  • Separate circuit boards, processors, memory, drives, power supplies, wiring, batteries, metals, and plastics
  • Recognize common computer parts and different types of electronic equipment
  • Organize recovered equipment, components, and recyclable materials
  • Move materials using pallet jacks, carts, or forklifts when needed
  • Meet daily processing and recovery expectations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Support other warehouse departments when needed

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on familiarity with computers, electronics, gadgets, or electronic components
  • Ability to identify common computer parts and electronic equipment
  • Basic understanding of what can be saved for resale or parts versus what should be processed as scrap
  • Experience sorting, dismantling, repairing, building, upgrading, testing, refurbishing, recycling, or reselling electronics
  • Comfortable using screwdrivers, drills, pliers, wire cutters, and other common tools
  • Able to work carefully without damaging potentially reusable equipment or components
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet throughout the shift
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to work productively with a team
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, productivity, and safety

Relevant Experience May Include

  • Electronics recycling or e-scrap
  • Computer building, upgrading, or repair
  • Electronics dismantling, repair, or refurbishment
  • IT equipment handling or asset disposition
  • Used-electronics testing, grading, sorting, or resale
  • Working in an electronics repair shop, recycling facility, pawn shop, resale business, or refurbishment center
  • Personal hands-on experience building or repairing computers and electronics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience sorting or dismantling computers and electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of common computer components and equipment generations
  • Ability to identify valuable circuit boards, processors, memory, drives, and other recoverable parts
  • Experience testing or grading used electronics
  • Experience separating electronic materials for recycling
  • Forklift or pallet-jack experience

Important: Electronics Experience Is Required

This position involves regular electronics sorting, processing, and dismantling. It is not primarily an order-picking, packing, shipping, cleaning, security, or forklift position.

Applicants must be able to recognize common electronics and components and make basic decisions about what should be saved and what should be recycled. Resumes that do not show relevant electronics or technical hands-on experience may not be considered.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $17 per hour
  • Monthly bonus opportunities
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Supplemental health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discounts
  • Opportunities to learn and advance
