Job description

Job Purpose: To operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handles all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; loading / unloading of RJW truck / trailers and outside carriers safely and using proper procedures; ensures all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; responsible for properly storing stock in the warehouse; performs duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities. Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers. Maintains forklift safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
  • Ability to operate sit down forklift and /or EPJs.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Loads and unloads RJW truck / trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment.
  • Flexible to work 10 to 12 hours shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.
  • Picking and moving stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
  • Ensures all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
  • Maintains warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Processing outbound cross-dock freight as necessary.
  • Oversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the storage racks.
  • Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
  • Records and verifies the accuracy of the shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments / deliveries.
  • Ensures all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
  • Operates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
    • This includes wearing of seatbelts at all times when operating the forklift.
  • Completes daily forklift maintenance inspections.
  • Handles all customer products properly and orderly.
  • Checks deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage. Alerts Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
  • Reports all accidents / incidents, to employee, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
  • Spotting of trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
  • Maintains access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility keeping them free of debris or snow.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Possesses a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • He/she must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Attention to detail and quality a must.
  • Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts.
  • PC skills helpful.
  • Major experience on sit down forklifts/EPJs
  • Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
  • Experience in cross docking freight process.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced warehouse.

Qualifications:
  • 3-6 months of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using sit down forklifts and Electric Pallet Jacks.
  • Good stable work record.

Education and/or Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED).
  • Warehousing certifications a plus.
