Title: CAD Technician II - Hybrid
Duration: 12 Months with a possibility of extension
Location: Charlotte, NC
 
Hybrid schedule available (work from home 2-3 days per week or 1 week out of the month in the office, depending on needs)
 
NC Local Candidates - Close to Charlotte, NC, where they will be traveling to. Will occasionally travel to Wilmington, NC.
 
Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
 
Overtime is common; target of approximately 45 hours per week

Description:
 
Top Candidates will have:
  • Hands-on experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and exposure to Navisworks
  • As a member of a global drafting department – you will assist in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files (Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD) for various buildings/structures located in numerous worldwide Client Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing locations.
  • Primary responsibilities include assisting the area drafting lead with joining architectural/construction/ building data sets (supplied by outside firms or created internally) with process equipment models supplied internally by Client engineering organizations into a single data set. Typical tasks include creating 3D building models from existing 2D drawings and creating equipment layout drawings for installation purposes. No actual construction drawings or new design activity will be within scope of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Convert 2D AutoCAD drawings into accurate, parametric 3D Revit models for facilities
  • Develop coordinated 3D models from legacy drawings, ensuring geometry, dimensions, and annotations match existing conditions
  • Create equipment layout views and sheets in Revit to support installation, coordination, and review activities
  • Update models based on redlines and feedback from the drafting lead and engineering/development teams
  • Perform field checks as needed to verify dimensions and existing conditions and incorporate those updates into the model
  • Organize and maintain models for efficient reuse, revision, and handoff to project stakeholders
Required Education:
  • Candidates should have one of the following (or a similar technical degree with demonstrated drafting skills):
    • A.A.S. Engineering Technology
    • A.O.S. Drafting/CAD
    • Drafting Certificate/Certification
  • Candidates without a degree must demonstrate strong proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
  • Required Experience and Skills: 
    • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in the architectural and/or mechanical drafting field
    • Hands-on experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and exposure to Navisworks preferred
    • Ability to work from redlines, field measurements, and engineering input to produce accurate drawings and coordinated models
