Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Portland Design Center is seeking a Civil Designer/CAD Technician specializing in civil, site development, and environmental design.  The Wood E&IS Portland, Maine Office is a multi-disciplinary science/engineering/architecture team of 160+ staff, located in one of the most livable cities in the US.  Wood offers the technical challenges of projects located throughout the US and globally within the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city.

The role of a Civil Designer/CAD Technician is to assist in the planning, design, and modeling of site grading, surface preparation, stormwater management systems, and other infrastructure utility layouts under the direct supervision of a Civil Engineer.  Overall, you will be supporting teams of engineers, architects, and scientists on a wide variety of projects including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, and soil/groundwater remediation.

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Civil Designer/CAD Technician
  • Experience preparing civil engineering construction and permitting drawings
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD Civil3D for preparing grading plans and developing surface models, pipe networks, and earthwork quantities
  • Demonstrated capability to design independently with minimum supervision
  • Understanding of coordinate geometry and land surveying
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
  • Drafting / CAD knowledge of National CAD standards and other disciplines is a plus, i.e. Architecture, Mechanical, Structural
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Ability to pass a drug test and  background check
  • Must have a Driver's license, and a satisfactory driving record
  • Eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship
