The position will support project needs by computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) using Civil 3D software for a variety of environmental, civil, and geotechnical engineering design projects. We are seeking a motivated individual who can develop layouts, grading plans, and details for engineering projects, including landfills, industrial sites, and utilities. Projects also include opportunities to contribute from the conceptual design stage through construction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate a CAD computer using appropriate hardware and Civil 3D software to develop figures, drawings, and assist with developing drawing sets;
  • Draft, edit, and finalize design plans and details using appropriate and efficient methods, and adhering to Geosyntec drafting standards;
  • Understand and visualize overall civil/geotechnical engineering concepts, such as grading, and translating abstract concepts to design drawings;
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine best approach to complete drawings and assist with completing drawing sets;
  • Copy detailed plans and drawings, and perform non-routine complex drafting assignments;
  • Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices;
  • Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar;
  • Participate in CAD Action Group, by supporting, networking, and collaborating to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company;
  • Work collaboratively with other Geosyntec CAD practitioners to prepare design drawings and details and review completed work products to ensure quality; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of Associate's degree in Drafting. (required)
  • Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems. (required)
  • Working knowledge of the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D. (required)
  • Experience using Civil 3D, including but not limited to surfaces, alignments, profiles, profile views, cross-sections, data shortcuts, surface analyses, volume calculations, sheet set manager with fields, and coordinate systems. (required)
  • Qualified candidate will be required to take a Geosyntec Civil 3D exam to show proficiency in the software, will be conducted during interview process.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, including but not limited to annotation styles, multileaders, MTEXT, dimensions, scales, paper space/model space, XREFs, layers, dynamic blocks, and tool palettes. (required)
  • Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files. (required)
  • Knowledge of stormwater management design. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of landfill design. (preferred)
  • Familiarization with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) as cloud-based storage. (preferred)
  • Experience using the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer. (required)
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. (required)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret red line drawings from Engineers, CAD Managers, or others on the project team. (required)
  • Strong reasoning and communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
