Job description

You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the SOFTWARE ENGINEERING BRANCH (N641) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.Qualifications:In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and deploying software applications on application servers.
  • Experience with evaluating and implementing cybersecurity guidelines and Security Technical Implementation Guides.
  • Experience with data exchange formats for data transmission, integration, and software configuration storage.
  • Experience with developing, automating, and maintaining spatial applications using enterprise geospatial technologies.
  • Experience with programming and querying databases using Oracle SQL, or PosgreSQL; or spatial databases; familiarity with modern software development methodologies and secure validation processes.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Evaluation of Education:

Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
