Job description

Walaris designs and develops AI-driven, software-defined, and hardware-enabled autonomous systems for defense and security applications. Our software platform uses artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and edge computing to provide real-time situational awareness for air, land, and sea domains, enabling rapid decisions at machine speed. Our cutting-edge technology is utilized by customers across the defense, national security, government, marine, and critical infrastructure protection markets worldwide.

Software engineers at Walaris are at the core of our company, tackling complex and mission-critical technical challenges with the latest technologies. They build/integrate real-time machine learning and image processing systems with advanced hardware and are constantly designing innovative software solutions. Working in cross-functional, international teams, our engineers consistently strive to exceed customer expectations.

For our office in Atlanta, we are looking for a Perception/Computer Vision Engineer starting as soon as possible.

Your Mission

As a Perception Engineer with a focus on embedded perception systems, you will play a critical role in delivering a real-time detect, classify, and track software platform currently protecting military bases, borders, government facilities, critical infrastructure and major public venues across the globe. You will work directly with camera data pipelines and embedded compute platforms to build robust, efficient, and scalable perception functionality.

You will contribute as a highly skilled individual contributor, and your work will be essential to ensuring that our CUAS systems operate reliably in real-world, resource-constrained environments.

Responsibilities
  • Full Lifecycle Ownership. Work through software design and architecture, all the way through deployment and live field trials. You will help maintain a constant feedback loop from implementation to test and evaluation to improve our product performance.
  • Counter-UAS Perception Adaptation. Tailor our perception stack to overcome environmental noise, clutter, rain, and low-contrast target profiles.
  • Hardware Integration. Integrate computer vision pipelines onto edge hardware for real-time inference and offboard control.
  • Algorithm Development. Code and optimize advanced algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, target guidance, and target re-identification.
  • Multi-Sensor Correlation: Align camera-based perception outputs with ADSB, radar, and RF inputs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience working as a Computer Vision generalist or perception engineer
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, as well as proficiency in C++ or Rust
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux platforms, particularly NVIDIA Jetson devices
