Job Summary:
SVS Vision Receptionists will be responsible for creating a positive first impression that the patient receives when they walk into our stores. Optical receptionists work as part of a team of eye care professionals including optometrists. The receptionists' main priorities are to assist clients either over the phone or in person, while getting the opportunity to build relationships with patients. They are also responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience from start to finish. Receptionists need to have a basic understanding of the different types of optical aids available, and their duties usually include (but are not limited to):
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide support to the optical store team. Greet patients as they enter the store, answer the telephone, book appointments, manage patient files, and support all other aspects that do not influence a patient's vision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Greet patients and customers
• Answer the telephone in a professional manner
• Book appointments accurately
• Other duties as assigned
OPERATIONAL STANDARDS
• Confirm appointments
• Process transactions in the optical billing and point of sale systems
• Process medical billing information, including uploading all supporting documents to EHR, including IDs, Insurance cards, Insurance Plan sheets, and charts
• Organize and file patient and customer records
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in an office is preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Able to handle multiple customer interactions/phone calls at a time
• Excellent organizational skills
• Able to work cross-functionally with excellent attention to detail and follow through
• Solid interpersonal relationship skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., tablet, personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)
• Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds
• Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)
• Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness
• Ability to grip and hold items
• Good eye and hand coordination
• Able to operate a cash register, various optical equipment and tools
• Ability to adapt to changing policies and duties required for the business
• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
• Ability to travel between offices as needed to support patient care
• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
