This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

We are looking for a skilled, motivated engineer to join a team developing manufacturing automation and enterprise systems to drive efficiency throughout the company. As a software engineer, you will be a key member of a team of experts supporting manufacturing developing software platforms to enable real-time analysis and decision-making. We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products using pioneering software and hardware technologies. We use the latest AWS and GenAI platforms and approaches to build distributed, highly available systems to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and internal tools that enable manufacturing teams to automate existing processes, improve usability, and standardize performance-based benchmarks.
  • Lead frontend architecture and implementation for enterprise-grade applications, with a strong emphasis onReact,TypeScript, reusable component design, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Build intuitive, responsive, and highly usable user interfaces that simplify complex operational and manufacturing workflows.
  • Partner closely with product owners, UX/design, manufacturing stakeholders, and backend engineers to translate business needs into high-quality software solutions.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of enterprise-scale systems and services, with primary ownership of the frontend application layer and user experience.
  • Develop and integrate frontend applications with APIs and enterprise systems, while contributing to backend services as needed to support end-to-end delivery.
  • Produce high-quality technical and user documentation, including frontend architecture decisions, integration patterns, and application workflows.
  • Leverage AI technologies and tools (e.g., LLMs, computer vision models, AI-assisted development tooling) to enhance software capabilities, improve automation, and drive innovation in enterprise applications.
  • Apply DevOps practices and tools to improve software delivery, testing, monitoring, and deployment automation.
  • Identify usability issues, workflow inefficiencies, and feature gaps across enterprise systems, and develop scalable remediation plans.
  • Champion best practices in frontend engineering, including accessibility, testing, performance optimization, maintainable code structure, and engineering standards.
  • Mentor teammates by sharing knowledge in frontend architecture, UI engineering, scalability, and enterprise application development.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development engineering.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and the ability to translate domain expertise into robust applications.
  • Expert-level frontend development experiencebuilding production-grade applications usingReactandTypeScript.
  • Strong experience with modern frontend technologies and patterns, such as:
    • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript
    • React ecosystem tools
    • State management libraries
    • Component-based architecture
    • Frontend build and bundling tools
    • Testing frameworks for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience building polished, responsive, and maintainable user interfaces for complex business or enterprise applications.
  • Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs in production applications.
  • Solid backend experience with one or more languages such asJava, Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or C#, and ability to contribute to API and service development as needed.
  • Experience solving complex problems by leveraging AI tools and integrating AI-powered solutions into software development workflows.
  • Familiarity with application deployment processes from development through production.
  • Strong familiarity with SQL and database systems.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership, drive frontend design decisions, support team members, and collaborate effectively to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering and business teams.
  • Self-driven with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results, proactively gathering requirements, and proposing thoughtful solutions.

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80
