Job description

Location -   This role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary

The Research Assistant provides research support for Dr. Cheng's research group in the form of model development, report writing, proofreading, research material collection, and reporting.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to develop computer models and simple evaluation of the results.
  • Able to perform searches on databases, websites, etc., to support project activities, with experience in literature reviews.
  • Prior experience with proofreading, annual reports or related academic writing is required.
  • Prior experience in data collection and data entry is required.
  • Intermediate level computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) is required
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills

  • Develops computer models.
  • Writes reports
  • Assists in the preparation and proofreading of publications, presentations, technical reports and briefings
  • Attends research group meetings to remain up to date with the group's research projects. Assists with lab work as needed
