Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY:


In addition to fulfilling the requirements of the Vision Engineer, a Team Leader's responsibilities also include the duties listed below:


TEAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Single point of contact for his/her team both to delegate work & requests & to escalate issues.
  • General supervision, training, and guidance of all Vision engineering designers that are part of his/her team.
  • Responsible for team performance in respect to meeting departmental and project based milestones and KPIs.
  • Accountable for Delivery, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Safety and Idea Completion for their team.
  • Foster an atmosphere of creativity, efficiency, and collaboration within the team.
  • Roll out company & departmental objectives to team members.
  • Evaluate team member performance and complete regular reviews
  • Conduct 1:1 with team members on regular basis to continuously develop & coach them.
  • Responsible for Cost and Schedule oversight of all the projects assigned to the team.
  • Assign team to the day-to-day direct labour activities through daily standup meetings.
  • Ensures, checks and approves that all work products produced by his/her design team members are acceptable based on the functionality, adherence to standards, accuracy, completeness, and consideration for safety.
  • Work with the team and encourage team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, support implementation of suggestions and confirm completion of continuous improvement suggestions.
  • Approve all material requisitions for projects assigned to his/her team.
  • Maintain labour, material and schedule forecast information and any appropriate execution improvement plans provided to Program Management for programs assigned to his/her team.
  • Ensure that scheduled milestones relating to Vision engineering design are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Vision Manager to set goals and manage successful performance for his/her team members.
  • Review and evaluate new Vision design related products to provide a cost effective, and up-to-date vision solution.
  • Ensure that all employees, under their direction, are aware of, and follow all Health and Safety procedures, established by the Company & responsible for Safety of all employees in his team.
  • Ensure that all employees receive job specific training to be able to work effectively, and where needed, provide the employee with written instructions.
  • Understand all Jobs done by the team and provide coverage during vacation / absence.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create Concept Designs and Vision Design Specification (VDS) documents.
  • Ensure that Peer to Peer Reviews are completed (verify work of team members).
  • Assist in detail design when required by Team Members.
  • Participate in development and implementation of tools, methods and modules ensuring standards maintained.
  • Work with other members of the Vision Engineering department and other teams to continuously improve methods and tools for Vision design, driving enhanced modularity, standardization, and functionality.
  • Work with members of the Vision Engineering department and other teams to ensure that cost and schedule budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering team in support of proposals and owns the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
  • Work with other members of the project team, both ATS and non-ATS, to develop a Vision design that provides the functionality required, based on ATS standards and the customers' specifications.
  • Work with team members, customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a product or service compliant with their requirements.
  • Attend project meetings such as (but not limited to): PKO, WIN, PEP, Whiteboard
  • Act as Manger Backup when needed

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training.
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.
Qualifications

Education:

A post-secondary diploma, degree or equivalent qualification, ideally specializing in vision systems design.


Experience:

Demonstrated experience in an industrial development environment, producing custom machinery design. Proven leadership qualities including good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with and motivate team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion. This includes hands-on experience in manufacturing and machine debug
