Job Description

The Tester is responsible forย performing testing and troubleshooting during the final assembly phase of electrical control and distribution equipment prior to customer delivery. This role ensures product quality, compliance, andย optimalย functionality by verifying that all assemblies meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards. The Testing Technician works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams toย identifyย and resolve issues before shipment.ย 

Schedule:ย Monday to Thursday 6:00 AMโ€“4:45 PM, Friday 6:00 AMโ€“2:00 PM | Occasional Saturdays

Accountabilitiesย 

  • Demonstrate technical skillsย regardingย performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing for reliability on Low, Medium, and Arc-Resistant switchgear and electrical control equipment using tools such as multimetersย etc.ย  ย 
  • Verify and document HIPOT tests on copper bus.ย 
  • Ensureย final product is consistent with technical schematics, perform basic device programming, and repair all custom-built equipment prior to client shipment as a measure of quality control.ย ย ย 
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests to show the functionality of Mission Critical Group products and advise of interfacing capabilities with clientsโ€™ existing equipment under the direction of senior team members.ย ย ย 
  • Identifyย functionality or defects through visual and electrical inspections on power distribution equipment andย assistย senior team members with maintenance or repairs within testing guidelines.ย 
  • Assistย senior team members with design verifications and product reliability demonstrations during client witness testing activities under supervision.ย ย ย 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.ย 
Qualifications

Required knowledge/Experienceย 

  • 2+ years of experience in wiring and assembling electrical control and distribution equipment, preferably in a switchgear or industrial manufacturing environment.ย 
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures as applied to the design and production of electrical equipment.ย 
  • Understanding raw materials, production processes, and manufacturing techniques.ย 
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.ย 
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Testing tools include MPRT, secondary injection units, digital ratiometers, CT testers, digital multimeters, Fluke meters, AC and DC high-potential testers, high-voltage testers, basic hand tools, and testing jumpers.ย 
  • Proficiencyย with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.ย 
  • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical procedures,ย writeย reports and correspondence, and present information to managers and customers.ย 
  • Solid mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures, proportions, and measurements.ย 
  • Strong attention to quality with the ability to follow procedures carefully and strive for accuracy in all work.ย 
  • Self-motivated with the ability toย identifyย and resolve issues independently whileย maintainingย adherence to guidelines and procedures.ย 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.ย 
  • Customer-oriented with a proactive approach to supporting internal and external needs.ย

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Overtime may beย requiredย based on production demands, including extended shifts, weekends, or holidays.ย ย 
  • This role is based on the production floor. The position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.ย ย 
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.ย ย 
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.ย ย 
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up toย fiftyย (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.ย ย 
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.ย ย ย
