Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and organized IT Intern who will support the tools and systems managed by IT Operations. This is a hands-on experience, which will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to the systems and infrastructure that keep a fast-paced defense technology company running.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing information technology, computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or a related field, and eager to make an impact in the defense tech industry.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Provide support for hardware, software, and network issues, including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and mobile devices
โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions
โ€ข Perform routine system maintenance, including software updates, security patches, and backups
โ€ข Document and track support tickets using a helpdesk management system, ensuring resolutions are well-documented
โ€ข Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging IT trends and technologies to provide innovative solutions
โ€ข Collaborate with senior IT staff on complex technical projects, migrations, and system upgrades
โ€ข Ensure adherence to security best practices, including data protection and access control
Qualifications
โ€ข Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field
โ€ข Basic ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices, with comfort in at least one operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
โ€ข Excellent communication with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users

โ€ข Familiarity with networking concepts: DNS, DHCP, VPN, ethernet, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting is a plus
โ€ข Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) is a plus
โ€ข Exposure to security best practices, including data protection and access control
โ€ข Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
โ€ข This role requires full-time in office presence (40 hours/week) based at our headquarters in Austin, TX, from August through December
