What does a computer tech intern do?

A Computer Tech Intern assists IT professionals with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems and networks. Their responsibilities may include installing software, updating hardware, providing technical support to users, and helping with system upgrades. Interns gain hands-on experience in diagnosing technical problems, learning industry-standard tools, and understanding IT workflows in a professional environment. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to build foundational skills for a career in information technology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a computer tech intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Tech Intern, you should have foundational knowledge of computer hardware, troubleshooting, operating systems, and basic networking, often gained through coursework or certifications like CompTIA A+. Familiarity with tools such as ticketing systems, remote desktop applications, and diagnostic utilities is typically expected.
