What is a computer tech assistant?

Computer Tech Assistants are professionals who support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software systems. They help users resolve technical issues, perform routine system updates, and assist with setting up new devices or applications. Typically, they work under the supervision of IT specialists or network administrators and provide essential day-to-day technical support in offices, schools, or other organizations.

To thrive as a Computer Tech Assistant, you need strong troubleshooting skills, basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, and often a relevant associate degree or technical certification such as CompTIA A+.
