What you'll do

As a System Integration Engineer – Antenna Installation, you will play a hands-on role in the integration, installation, and testing of Viasat’s advanced Remote Sensing Antenna Systems and Satellite Communications Terminals. You’ll be a key member of a team responsible for bringing complex antenna systems to life—both at our facilities and at customer sites.


The day-to-day
  • Lead or assist in the on-site installation and mechanical assembly of large-scale antenna systems, ensuring proper alignment, structure integrity, and system functionality
  • Integrate and connect system components, including cabling, RF, and network interfaces, according to design documentation
  • Reference an Indentured Drawing List (IDL) and corresponding Bill of Materials (BOM) to support installation planning and logistics
  • Set up and operate specialized test equipment for antenna system validation
  • Participate in customer site visits, where you will be the on-site representative of Viasat—ensuring installation quality and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Support network setup and configuration tasks necessary to bring installed systems online
  • Prepare and present technical reports summarizing installation results and any corrective actions taken
  • Assist in the refinement of installation procedures and documentation to improve future deployments
  • Provide remote support when not physically on-site supporting installations

What you'll need
  • 2+ years of experience in system installation, integration, and commissioning of RF systems, antenna systems, or satellite communication terminals
  • Experience with cabling, mechanical assembly, and system setup in remote or field environments
  • Proficiency in reviewing and reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation documentation using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
  • Strong understanding of RF, network, and control system integration, including configuring vendor equipment for remote operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues on-site with minimal supervision
  • Experience with testing and tuning RF systems, including G/T, EIRP, BERT, and servo controls
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate installation activities with customers, field technicians, and internal teams
  • Willingness to travel 60% or more to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and support
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Ability to work on-site at our Duluth, GA facility and customer locations

  • Experience with SATCOM or remote sensing RF electronics, including HPAs, converters, LNAs, across S, X, Ka, and Ku bands
  • Familiarity with system testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of RF and control subsystems
  • Knowledge of remote control interfaces and network configurations for satellite and antenna systems

Salary range
$95,000.00 - $149,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $117,500.00- $176,500.00/ annually
