Senior Device Validation Engineer

Flock

Atlanta, GA • Remote

$150K - $190K/yr

Full-time

Job description

The Problem

As Flock expands our suite of public safety technology, ensuring hardware and peripheral reliability across our entire product suite is critical to field operations. Architecting scalable hardware validation frameworks and establishing a dedicated testing lab requires deep technical execution across low-level Linux, embedded electronics, and cloud interfaces. You will serve as the technical authority for our validation engineering efforts, bridge cross-functional engineering workflows, and execute our physical validation infrastructure strategy.

What You'll Own
  • Lead the software design and technical execution of automated hardware validation frameworks across our hardware products and peripherals.

  • Build the technical tooling and infrastructure strategy for the physical hardware validation lab at our Atlanta facilities.

  • Develop shared test libraries and core automation tools using Python, C, and low-level Linux OS configurations.

  • Design relational test data store architecture to enable deep diagnostic analytics across embedded devices and cloud platforms.

  • Drive cross-functional technical initiatives, aligning hardware, low-level OS, and cloud teams throughout full product development lifecycles.

What This Role is Not
  • This isn't a people management or administrative role; your primary focus will be high-impact technical execution, schematics, low-level C code, and lab instrumentation rather than direct reports and headcount planning.

  • This is not a pure software application role; you will directly work in the physical hardware validation lab environment and bridge low-level electronics with cloud backends.

  • This isn't a remote position; you will be on-site at our Atlanta area facilities to lead physical lab technical operations and engage directly with prototype hardware.

What You Bring
  • Senior-level technical experience guiding cross-functional hardware and software engineering efforts through complex product lifecycles.

  • Low-level C programming proficiency for peripheral testing alongside high-level scripting experience in Python or Bash for test automation libraries.

  • Hands-on familiarity with embedded Linux configurations, build environments, and kernel digital communication protocols like SPI, I2C, and UART.

  • Practical knowledge of electronic schematics, circuit verification, and diagnostic lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.

  • Ability to design relational test databases using tools like PostgreSQL or MySQL for system performance analysis.

  • A degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience, is required.

  • Experience with Linux driver development or battery power management validation is a plus.

Compensation

In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $150,000 and $190,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.
