Job description

As a Systems Engineer, you will support projects by helping define requirements, integrate different parts of a system, and assist with testing activities (Verification & Validation). You will also use ModelBased Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo to help design architectures and ICDs from the ground up, then organize and communicate said system designs. This requires someone who has a background in software integration/development and is able to develop MBSE models from the ground up by reverse engineering already developed software products, network topologies, and system architectures.
In this role, you will contribute to important project tasks such as system analysis, planning, and identifying risks. You will help guide key project decisions and support major deliverables using your understanding of system architecture, system design, and the overall system lifecycle.
You will need to be comfortable working in a fastchanging environment where priorities may shift quickly. This role also involves working in a softwareheavy environment, so the ability to collaborate with software teams and adapt to evolving technical needs is important.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related discipline
    (A higherlevel degree may reduce the experience requirement.)
  • Experience supporting system requirements, integration, testing, and MBSE design.
  • Strong understanding of Cameo and building Software Centric MBSE models from the ground up
  • Strong understanding of Tactical Data Links e.g., JREAP-C, UCI, DIS, VMF, MADL, TTNT, CEC, etc.
  • Willingness and desire to work in a fastchanging environment where project needs, priorities, and technical details can shift quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a softwareheavy environment, collaborating closely with software engineering teams.
  • Working understanding of basic software engineering concepts and common operating systems, including Linux.
  • Adaptability and willingness to adjust to new tools, processes, and evolving technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining clear organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and one that may require you to wear multiple hats at times
  • Ability and willingness to support live events by developing and utilizing test cards for system validation/troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with real-time or embedded systems.
  • Experience with tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or MATLAB.
  • Some knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) message standards.
  • Understanding of MBSE and requirements management best practices.
  • Experience with INCOSE standards or a CSEP certification.
  • Background working in the Aerospace or Defense industry.
  • Experience helping to define and update system baselines or performing trade studies.
  • Understanding of tracking key technical performance metrics.
  • Strong problemsolving abilities and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working or Scrum Master certification.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Sufficient hand and finger dexterity for system modeling and documentation tasks.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting with occasional travel.
