Job Description / Essential Elements:
EL RANCHO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
COMPUTER SYSTEM SPECIALIST
DEFINITION:
Responsible for operation of district network applications. Monitors, controls, and operates the district-wide school attendance system. Initiates a variety of program processes including the creation of standard and special reports. Interfaces with users regarding system operations, accuracy of data, data security and data back-ups. Assists in the training of staff, problem-solving, and serves as liaison to the company that provides system software. Oversees the creation of numerous printed reports including student progress and report cards and a variety of special purpose printed reports. The Specialist must have the ability to initiate and follow written and oral instructions of a technical and complex nature; organize and schedule jobs; update and document procedures; interface with users at various levels of expertise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Abilities:
An understanding and operational capability of computer systems, network systems and peripheral equipment is essential. The Specialist will have experience in database management and maintenance with emphasis on the extraction of data for special report creation utilizing advanced query statements. Ability to analyze problems to determine the source and work out efficient solutions.
Experience and Education:
Three years experience in network based database operations, ideally with emphasis on school district student attendance systems. Two years experience in database management and good general aptitude and experience with a variety of PC based applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.). Equivalent to completion of an AA degree in Computer Science.
