Job description

Overview
Nakupuna Solutions is seeking a System Administrator, Linux. The System Administrator, Linux is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting computer systems and networks to ensure availability, performance, and security. This role may involve managing GovCloud environments, standalone environments, as well as connections to external networks such as NIPRNET, SIPRNET, DREN, JWICS, and NSA.
Responsibilities
The following duties reflect management's definition of essential functions for this job but do not restrict the tasks that might be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
System Management:
  • Install and configure Linux environments and systems including back-end processes and scripts. Ensure configurations are in line with C5ISR policies and procedures for systems across various networks (DREN, NIPRnet, SIPRnet, JWICS, laboratory networks), and that permissions, policies, performance, and reviews are consistent with standards.
  • Monitor system performance and availability.
  • Implement system security measures; review logs and identify issues.
  • Provide administration, refactoring support, architecture, planning, and execution of required cloud computing aspects, such as building and maintaining registered applications in an Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure environment.
  • Maintain system documentation.
  • Conduct system upgrades and patches.

Infrastructure Support:
  • Configure and maintain storage systems
  • Provide support for registered application development environments, including setting up new servers, configuring services as needed, decommissioning legacy or unnecessary servers, configuring registered application environments, and testing and troubleshooting as required.
  • Coordinate support responses with the local Network Enterprise Center (NEC) for the submission and management of ticket requests to NEC regarding issues related to virtual machine creation, performance issues, changes in hardware resource allocation, and POAs, waivers, and exceptions.
  • Align managed systems concerning Linux operating systems, images, containers, PODs, Nodes, or other applicable cloud computing technologies, registered applications, and supporting application technologies to current DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)/security requirements guides (SRG), and applicable guidance concerning the cybersecurity posture of administered information systems within the applicable network in which the systems in question reside.
  • VMware ESXi server administration support to include but not limited to: creating and updating VM templates, building new servers as needed, and managing resource allocation on ESXi host.
  • Coordinate with DREN Network Operations Center (NOC) to troubleshoot connectivity issues and DREN network configuration changes/updates.

Technical Support:
  • Provide required support to ACAS scans/ IA vulnerability alert compliance/McAfee ESS/ server to include, but not limited to: approving and managing updates, remediating findings of IA compliance scans, ensuring clients are updated and compliant, and responding to fragmentary orders and operational orders.
  • Apply current operating system patches and security patches electronically or manually to meet Cybersecurity compliance.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field
  • Required certifications including Security+ CE. Other certifications desired but not required, such as:
    • SecurityX / CASP+
    • CCNP Security
    • CISA
    • FITSP-O
    • GICSP
    • SSCP
  • 5+ years of system administration experience
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • CompTIA Server+
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Clearance Requirements: Active TS/SCI security clearance required. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $125,000.00 to $160,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
