Job description

Title:   INFORMATION SERVICES INTERN

Position Type: Non-Exempt

Compensation - Salary Range: $13.00 to $16.00 per hour

Primary Function:

Perform routine maintenance of personal computers; assemble and install new computer systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a York County School Division high school earning at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Experience assembling computer systems, including printers. Experience installing Microsoft Windows and other software. Experience completing minor computer repairs and upgrades. Ability to travel to more than one work site in the course of the workday. Valid Virginia Driver's License. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others. Be dependable, honest, and trustworthy. Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including the abilities to lift fifty (50) pounds unassisted, stoop, bend, and kneel.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Move computers into classrooms and buildings.
  • Unpack computers and place computers on desks, tables, carts, cabinets, or other provided furnishings.
  • Connect all computer cables, including power cords, VGA cable, network patch cord, parallel cable, mouse, etc.
  • Remove boxes and packing materials to designated locations.
  • Perform basic computer set-up to include installing Windows and various application software.
  • Perform basic trouble-shooting techniques and minor repairs.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with Information Services staff and division personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor of Computer Maintenance.

Supervisor of Computer Maintenance

Terms of Employment:

Time assigned as needed by Supervisor of Computer Maintenance. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
