This position is 100% on-site in Flowood, MS. It does not have a remote or hybrid function.

The Web Systems Engineer II is responsible for developing new Web applications and enhancing existing web applications that promote effective information transfer between BCBSMS business systems. The Web Systems Engineer II is also responsible for identifying and implementing methods of preventing technical problems that could cause disruption to business activities and performing systems and business function analysis in support of business areas.

Job-Specific Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field is required and combined related experience as follows:
    • A Bachelor's degree and :
  • 2+ years experience in object oriented programming environment.
  • 5+ years of full development life cycle experience.
  • 2+ years experience using Java, JSP, and SQL.
  • 2+ years experience using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON and XML.

OR

  • A Master's Degree and:
  • 2+ years experience in object oriented programming environment.
  • 2+ years of full development life cycle experience.
  • 2+ years experience using Java, JSP, and SQL.
  • 2+ years experience using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON and XML.
  • 2+ years experience using IBM Rational Team Concert or other source control tools like SVN and GIT.
  • 2+ years experience creating and consuming REST services.
  • Experience using J2EE architecture preferred.
  • Experience implementing or utilizing CICD practices using Jenkins or other CICD tools.
  • Experience using WSAD and Websphere preferred.
  • Experience with Windows NT, UNIX, and Visual Basic preferred.
