Job description

Req ID:513533

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Design Engineer in Toronto, ON we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical and engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside a collaborative and innovative team of professionals.

You'll play a key role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada's busiest public transit system by contributing to the transformation of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, and Regional Centers), manage technical interfaces with stakeholders, and ensure the quality and performance of OCS designs, among other responsibilities.

You'll specifically take care of establishing and reviewing basic and detailed design documents for the project, but also support OCS topics for the System Engineering team.

We'll look to you for:

  • On-time design submission of assigned design documents and/or drawings

  • Technical interface management with internal and external stakeholders

  • Technical management of suppliers and subcontractors

  • Sign-off on OCS design documents

  • Preparation and submission of BIM format documents when applicable

  • Integration of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS) requirements

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Systems

  • 3+ years experience or understanding of OCS engineering

  • Knowledge of AC Electrification in Railway Projects is preferred

  • Familiarity with Canadian standards and common practices

  • A Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations or in progress

  • Knowledge of BIM software and BIM design

  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Things you'll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey - the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You'll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards leadership roles or specialized technical paths

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $80,000 - $105,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
