Job description

To provide clinical nutrition support, care and information to patients and staff of Bay Area Hospital.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiently operates calculator, computer, PowerPoint, telephone, copy machine, fax machine
  • Able to read, write legibly, and converse in the English language
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
  • May require periodic use of personal computer

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Food & Nutrition or Dietetics. - Required
  • Completion of approved coordinated undergraduate program, dietetic internship or approved masters program with qualifying work experience - Required
  • Registered dietitian or eligible for registration- must obtain registration within 1 year - Required
  • Licensed as a Dietitian in the State of Oregon - Required
  • Current Drivers License or obtain within 30 days - Required
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler, Food Manager Certification, or ServSafe Certification within 30 days of hire - Required
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - Preferred
  • Certified Diabetic Educator - Required
  • Certified Oncology Nutrition Specialist - Required
  • Certified Nutrition Support Specialist - Required
EXPERIENCE
  • Three (3) years experience in clinical or community nutrition
