The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving and unloading incoming goods, verifying goods with documentation, and process the documentation in accordance with local policies.
Responsibilities
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
  • Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.
  • May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.
  • Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records
  • Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against the DD Form 1348 documents.
  • Ensure that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
  • Prepare and keep records of goods shipped, e.g., DD Form 1348, bill of lading.
  • Checks for damaged goods.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as forklift, cherry picker or stand-up lift.
  • Ensures that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to operate in a warehouse and outdoor type environment.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven ground and within work various sites and withstand prolonged periods of standing for 6-8 hours a day in performance of duties.
  • Work requires continuous walking, standing and sitting.
  • Work requires extensive interaction with customer.
  • Must comply with published Company work rules.
  • There may be times when an employee is exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.
  • Regular Work Schedule: 1st shift, Monday - Friday (40 hours) 8:00am - 4:30pm.
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights, weekends, and holidays under pressure and strenuous conditions.
  • Duties may involve the conduct of work in the out of outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. 50 lbs. assisted.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective mask, safety vest, steel or composite shoes/boots, safety gloves, hard hat and eyewear in certain areas.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven ground and within work various sites and withstand prolonged periods of standing for 6-8 hours a day in performance of duties.
  • Work requires continuous walking, standing and sitting.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain a Forklift license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre- employment drug screen.
  • Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver's License with no restrictions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Benning Installation.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Storage and warehouse functions and associated experience in computer support systems applicable to the requisition, receipt, storage, issue, and associated warehousing functions.
  • 1 year Forklift experience preferred

SKILLS:
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and interact at all levels.
  • Capacity to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Proficient in counting and recording numbers as needed for documentation.
