Job Summary – About the RoleDeliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.

Required:  Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must. Knowledge of how to greet the public courteously, obtain information and provide accurate and informative guidance. Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Maintain DCFS mandated reporter certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred: Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer work experience in reception and customer service, including basic computer skills and knowledge.

Essential Functions of the Position

Park District Cornerstones

  • Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
  • Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
  • Comply with Park District policies and administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation – Norris Recreation Center and the Membership Services Supervisor, the Guest Services Associate shall complete their assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District, fellow colleagues, and community members. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:

  • Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow colleagues.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and facility guests by assisting them with all of their needs and inquiries.
  • Answer telephones ina professional and friendly manner.
  • Provide information and assistance to fellow colleagues.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Complete facility tours and obtain the required waiver for tours with prospective members.
  • Provide accurate and clear membership and program information to potential members and participants.
  • Process memberships and registrations, collect fees, and issue receipts.
  • Initiate membership suspensions and cancellations.
  • Initiate refunds for programs.
  • Notify class participants of class and/or program changes or cancellations.
  • Operate various office machines such as copier, telephone, credit card reader, computer and printer.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and enforce and explain Park District and Norris Recreation Center procedures, rules and policies.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures and daily checklists.
  • Complete required documentation when notified of potential equipment-related concerns and verify the item(s) that require remediation.
  • Complete facility walk-throughs every 30-60 minutes.
  • Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere at Guest Services.
  • Keep Guest Services and lobby areas clean and neat.
  • Distribute incoming mail.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform first aid, CPR/AED and execute emergency procedures as necessary.
