About June Shelton School
June Shelton School & Evaluation Center enjoys the distinction of being the world's largest independent school for bright children with learning differences. Founded in 1976, Shelton is dedicated to making a difference by serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, all open to the community, a speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program. Shelton is actively involved with research and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children's Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Shelton School is a co-educational, non-sectarian school that serves approximately 900 students with learning differences in grades EC to 12. The Shelton School is accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).
Position Overview: The Computer Systems Specialist plays a key role supporting and maintaining Shelton School's technology infrastructure. This position provides on-demand hardware and software support to staff, and students, helping to ensure the seamless operation of all IT systems on campus. A strong background in Apple device support is essential, along with experience working in Windows environments. The role also involves the management and upkeep of additional systems, including printers, security cameras, phone systems, and campus-wide announcements.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Strong proficiency with Apple hardware, macOS, and iOS environments.
  • Basic understanding of Windows OS and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions, activities, and projects; prioritize duties to ensure timely completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.

Essential Functions:
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential to the successful performance of this job.
  • Equipment Setup and Operation
    • Assist with deployment of Apple devices, including imaging and device enrollment.
    • Assist with deployment of printers, including large multi-function printers and smaller desktop devices.
    • Assist with deployment of Windows devices, including imaging and software installation.
    • Assist with the operation and administration of security cameras and related software.
    • Assist with the operation of the phone, bells, and announcements systems.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates on computers, devices, and network-connected systems.
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues across multiple platforms.
    • Assist with the operation and administration of the print server and related software.
    • Monitor the network for anomalies and take action, when required.
    • Assist with set up and management of Google Admin.
  • Support
    • Provide on-demand hardware and software support to Shelton staff and students.
    • Perform routine maintenance for computers, printers, and other peripherals.
    • Ensure a safe and reliable online learning environment for students and staff.
    • Support technology needs during school events and occasional after-hours activities.
    • Support Security and Maintenance when hardware or software issues arise.
    • Support Audio Visual Specialist when needed.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
  • Collaboration
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of technology procedures and practices.
    • Collaborate with the Technology Team to document CIS 18 Critical Security Controls.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate user and asset records.
    • Maintain accurate system testing records.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and students.
