Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for setting the overall Information technology strategic direction and oversight of the management, coordination, and operation of the company’s information systems. Responsible for managing the implementation, training, upgrading, and operation of all computer software and hardware systems to meet the growing needs of the company. Required to advise and consult on all information systems and technology projects in all areas of the company. Responsible for maintaining and improving IT Department performance metrics, effectively communicating the metrics, and leading with a futuristic vision.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for planning, establishing, and maintaining physical and network access controls/systems and processes sufficient to detect and prevent unauthorized access to Steffes systems and unauthorized use, corruption, loss, or theft of Steffes data (e.g. Cyber Security).
  2. Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends strategic initiatives for the computer software and hardware infrastructure to meet the growing needs of Steffes.
  3. Responsible for establishing the strategic requirements, research, setup, upgrading, and implementation of new and existing hardware and software systems on computer desktop PC and network system.
  4. Responsible for budgeting, purchasing, and receiving of all IT equipment and related products, with input from each Value Stream.
  5. Oversee the maintenance of user accounts, Active Directory security, and Group Policy Management.
  6. Establish and report IT Department performance metrics for continuous improvement.
  7. Responsible for IT Department project management coordination and reporting.
  8. Establish and improve system backup and recovery to mitigate the impact of unforeseen events.
  9. Will oversee developing and administering training manuals/procedures for all PC and computer network software and new user IT orientation. Will coordinate training for internal staff on company programs.
  10. Responsible for communication between IT support and end users. Must understand the concept of ERP software program and act as support for internal staff.
  11. Responsible for researching all pertinent emerging technologies and state-of-the-art software and hardware to identify and implement opportunities to improve system efficiency and meet the growing needs of the company.
  12. Responsible for building relationships with IT vendors and service providers and negotiating cost-efficient contracts.
  13. Responsible for assuring technological adequacy of all automated production equipment.
  14. Develop long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future technology needs, including hardware, software and services.
  15. Provides leadership for short- and long-term planning for technology initiatives.
  16. Respond promptly to system outages or service issues, and user requests for technical assistance.
  17. Where required, resolve security issues and document promptly and accurately.
  18. Coordinates efforts with all departments to enhance their performance and efficiencies through an integrated information system.
  19. Oversee the administration & maintenance of the IT helpdesk (Dell Kace).
  20. Oversee and manage the administration of the day-to-day operations of Steffes’ Information Systems including support of the phone system, voice mail system, and assisting staff using the technologies.
  21. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  22. Support and help develop their team with professional development short- and long-term goals.
  23. Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  24. Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of related work experience -OR-
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience
Functional & Cognitive Requirements
  • This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
