Job Title: Computer/Infrastructure Technician

Credentials: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Education: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred. 

Training or experience preferred: 2 years of full time employment in education or work related to this position, such as experience with computer systems, common peripherals and computer software, skills in hardware installation and troubleshooting infrastructure services such as network cabling, telephone, wireless.

Site: Technology Services Center

Reports to: Tech Support and Infrastructure Manager

Contract: 240 Days

Salary Schedule: Computer Technician Pay Table

FLSA Classification:  Non-exempt

Policy Manual 2000 - Administration

The district recognizes that the legal aspects and consequences related to medical marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD), and hemp are evolving and may be subject to change. These issues may affect various areas of the district's current policies regarding employees, students, parents, and individuals on district premises, driving district vehicles or attending district events.

The district will continue to enforce its currently adopted policies. As changes in state and/or federal law occur, the district will review and evaluate its policies to determine whether revisions are necessary to remain in compliance with applicable laws.

Employees of the district are expected to comply with all state and federal laws at all times as a condition of their continued employment with the district.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Acts as a liaison between sites and Technology Services.  Ensures site personnel get resolution for their issues
  • Plans, manages and implements deployment of devices or other device initiatives
  • Assists school personnel and students with resolving computer, printer and technical problems that are causing interruptions to classroom instruction and testing - both hardware and software
  • Works with testing coordinators and other TSC staff to ensure devices are on the correct operating system, have the proper software, are connecting to the proper network for upcoming standardized tests as well as helping building test coordinators to organize proper testing room setup
  • Facilitates collaboration between vendors/contractors and technology departments on ongoing projects.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on infrastructure equipment to eliminate severe problems and major down time.
  • Analyzes existing processes/systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and modifies as needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Successful performance of the job requires good customer service/people skills and the ability to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or to students. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance and leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff. 

Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are critical to the success of the position. The ability to effectively and patiently provide training and support to district staff in the use of computer systems is essential. Candidates should be able to perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. 

An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is often free to choose the solution. The skills to creatively and independently come up with solutions without formal training are vital.

On a workday, the employee may stand/walk 4 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, and pushing/pulling; occasional climbing (usually a 6-foot ladder, but occasionally higher) and reaching above the shoulders. Employee's job requires occasional carrying/lifting of up to 50 pounds to move computers and printers, televisions and other equipment.
