Key responsibilities

Job description

As an Inside/Outside Sales Business Development Representative, Medical Diagnostic Software, you will sell cloud-based diagnostic medical software that allows cardiology tests recorded at a clinic or lab to be read and diagnosed remotely by a physician. You will primarily be selling to office and clinic managers, who are frequently the effective entry point, and to physicians. This role is approximately 80-90% new business development and 10-20% account management in Year 1, with leads coming primarily from your own self-sourced outreach (cold calling, email, LinkedIn) and occasionally from inbound website enquiries. Customers are cardiology diagnostic clinics, ambulatory care providers, and diagnostic labs across the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, and eventually the rest of Canada. This is a newly created position, the second position in the sales team, reporting directly to the Director of Business Development. The base salary is $68,000 - $75,000 CAD, plus commission.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$68,000 - $75,000 CAD base salary, plus commission
     Year 1 OTE: $90,000 - $105,000 CAD, at approximately a 70% base / 30% variable split
Commission plan currently in development; full details shared upon engagement confirmation
Comprehensive group benefits through Canada Life, including health, dental, disability, and life insurance
     Health Care Spending Account
     Laptop provided
     Personal cell phone reimbursed
     Fully remote work arrangement

THE COMPANY & CULTURE

Our client was founded in approximately 1998 and has been in business for 28 years. They are a privately owned, small team, currently in a growth stage with 5-30% year-over-year growth, established and profitable. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, with 8 employees working fully remote, they license cloud-based diagnostic medical software that allows cardiology tests recorded at a clinic or lab to be uploaded, read, and diagnosed remotely by a physician, with results returned to the ordering clinic and the patient’s family physician. They also provide ongoing support to users of the software. Their clients include a province-wide health authority, and they maintain very low client churn across 28 years of operating history. The culture is small, collaborative, and fully remote, with very long employee tenure - most of the team has been with the company 15 years or more - and a strong emphasis on client support from every employee.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY
     Head Office: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Work arrangement: Fully remote (work-from-home). No required office days. Optional use of a boardroom in the Vaughan/Concord area for occasional in-person meetings.
Sales territory: Greater Toronto Area (primary prospecting focus), then Ontario, then the balance of Canada as accounts arise
Approximately 99% of prospects are small to mid-size cardiology clinics, including multi-site physician clinics, sold remotely
Selective in-person clinic visits are being piloted as one channel among several, primarily for candidates based in the GTA
Hours: Standard business hours, Monday to Friday. No evening or weekend requirement.
     Overnight travel: None required

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years of B2B sales experience - sales development, inside sales, or another customer-facing sales role. Must have personally carried and worked a new-business number.
Sales type: B2B, primarily by phone, email, LinkedIn, and video, with willingness to conduct occasional in-person clinic visits in the GTA
Industry experience preferred: healthcare SaaS, health-tech, EMR or practice-management software, digital diagnostics, or B2B technology and SaaS more broadly; ideally selling into clinics or physician practices today
Candidates with clinic and physician relationships but without a SaaS background (e.g., medical supplies, diagnostic equipment, pharma-adjacent) will also be considered, provided they can demonstrate the ability to learn and present technology credibly and have a genuine new-business track record
Experience selling to office/clinic managers and to physicians is an asset
Education: post-secondary education in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred, not required
A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is an asset for occasional GTA clinic visits

TECHNICAL SKILLS
CRM software (HubSpot, Salesforce, or comparable) - Intermediate
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Intermediate
Online screen-sharing and video demonstration tools - Intermediate
High general computer proficiency required - this role sells software to technical, clinical buyers

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION

PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)
Cardiology diagnostic clinics (primary focus), including multi-site physician clinics

SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE
Annual contract values typically range from $5,000 to $15,000
Deal sizes support a remote-close motion; no travel is required to close business
Sales cycle length: approximately 4 months

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
28 years of operating history with very low client churn
Remote reading capability that improves physician productivity, which is the primary reason clients buy given increasingly restrictive per-test reimbursement conditions
Platform reliability and a long track record of consistent service
Established relationship with a province-wide health authority client

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES
     80% New Business Development
     20% Account Management
