Roncalli Catholic Schools - Food Services Assistant
Location: Roncalli High School
Department: Food Services
Start Date: August 25, 2026
Schedule: Temporary; Tuesdays amp; Thursdays 7:30am-1:30pm
Pay: $15.00-$16.00/hour, based on qualifications

The role
Assist with food preparation, service, kitchen operations, and cleanliness while supporting a faith-based school community.
What you'll do
Food preparation amp; service
• Set up food and beverages for sale before school and during café service.
• Assist with breakfast and hot lunch preparation and service.
• Help prepare meals and refreshments for special school events, orientations, and staff in-service days.
• Receive, check, and store food and supply deliveries.
• Step into a lead role when the Head Cook is absent.
Kitchen operations
• Maintain clean, safe kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow HACCP food safety guidelines.
• Wash dishes, clean tables, and assist with general kitchen cleanup.
• Remove garbage and recyclables.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Properly operate and clean kitchen equipment.
• Cross-train in all kitchen functions.
Team support
• Monitor equipment and supply inventory.
• Report maintenance or supply issues to the Head Cook or Food Services Director.
• Maintain ServSafe certification and participate in ongoing training.
• Be available to work days when lunch is not being prepared, as needed. Mandatory days include two days before first day of school and two days after last day of school. May also include in-service days, half-days or other days the office is open when school is not in session.
What you'll need
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day).
• Basic computer skills for timekeeping and attendance.
• Strong teamwork and reliability.
• Commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
Employment requirements
• Pass a background check required for Catholic school employees.
• Maintain current Virtus training.
• Obtain and maintain required food safety certifications (ServSafe).

• Semi-monthly pay schedule (15th and last day of each month; 24 pay periods annually).
