Responsibilities
    Monitor Gilbane's networks for security breaches and investigate a violation when one occurs
  • Assist in the development of processes to maintain business continuity and recovery standards for systems and networks of the organization
  • Install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information
  • Conduct penetration testing, which is when analysts simulate attacks to look for vulnerabilities in their systems before they can be exploited
  • Research the latest information technology (IT) security trends
  • Help plan and carry out the organization's way of handling security
  • Develop security standards and best practices for their organization
  • Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff
  • Help computer users when they need to install or learn about new security products and procedures
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, or a related field
  • Generally need to have previous experience in a related occupation. Prior experience in an information technology department, or as a network systems administrator, database administrator or computer systems analyst
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Principles and practices of Information Security theory and methods
  • Information Security Analysis processes and procedures
  • Information Security Database development and maintenance
  • User access control processes and documentation using technical access software
  • Capabilities of software tools and utilities
  • Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plans and processes
  • Operating systems security, systems hardening, host scanning tools, integrity tools, host and network-based intrusion detection systems
  • Analyze, identify, and solve problems
  • Keep current with changing technologies
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Prioritize and work effectively
  • Work independently under limited supervision, exercise initiative within established procedural guidelines
