Description
bioMerieux's Data Science group is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to help develop solutions for the next generation product concepts that will have a direct impact on the future of medical diagnostics.
The position involves all aspects of feasibility and design work focused on the application of mathematical techniques, data analytics, experiment design, algorithm design and statistical analysis to drive concepts from ideation through feasibility and into development. Algorithm design will involve image processing and machine learning methodologies from design to optimization.
The position will include collaboration and interaction with other scientists and engineers while prototyping, integrating and testing the technology for the next generation of diagnostic products for hospitals and laboratories. Coordination as a project team member with marketing, project management, quality analytics, manufacturing, regulatory and other functional areas will be required.
The Data Scientist is expected to prototype and design to the goals of functionality and operational utility while considering long term architecture, solution universality, practicality, connectivity, and schedule commitments. The position requires the ability to perform critical analysis, work well in teams, and self-manage.
Primary Duties
  1. Responsible for completeing tasks within the Data Science function, requiring close collaboration and coordination with other global engineering/scientific disciplines, departments, and third-party partners
  2. Encourages best practices in Data Science and lead the utilization of advanced theories, methods and research techniques in product development and manufacturing
  3. Mentoring others in the department on technology, methods and programming language utilization
  4. Build relationships with external development partners and prospective technology partners; co-develop and drive projects with these partners
  5. Represent Data Science on project teams and provides inputs to Project Management on a project-by-project basis. Provide Project Team inputs back to a sub-team of Data Scientists
  6. Candidate must be well grounded in fundamental and advanced concepts of applied mathematics, data analytics, statistics and image processing
  7. Performance of statistical analysis to interpret experimental results
  8. Design experimental methods and plans to generate results that drive critical product design selections
  9. Independent Development and implementation of algorithms using global software development tools, methodologies and processes
  10. Understanding and willingness to self-learn the technologies used in this domain to be up-to-date with the latest developments in data analytics, image processing and machine learning both in academia and in industry
  11. Enjoy working in areas outside of usual comfort zone and love to learn new technologies. Familiarity with or interest in biology, microbiology and biochemistry
  12. Proficient analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills. Must be able to perform in small team environment with minimal supervision
  13. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards
  14. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor degree required - Data Science, Applied Mathemetics/Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering
  • 5 years of professional related experience with Machine Learning, Statistics, Image Analysis, Signal/Time Series Analysis and Programming expereince with Python or R, Code - samples to be provided upon request
Preferred Education, Training, and Experience
  • Masters or PhD preferred
  • Work Exerpience in ISO or FDA regulated environment preferred

The estimated salary range for this role is between $115,000 and $160,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
