Title of Position - Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Wartburg College is dedicated to challenging and nurturing students for lives of leadership and service as a spirited expression of their faith and learning. Located in northeast Iowa, Waverly is an extraordinary "gigabit" community of more than 10,000 residents in the Cedar Valley metro near Waterloo and Cedar Falls, with an abundance of cultural, musical, and recreational opportunities. Major Midwest metropolitan areas within driving distance include Des Moines, Iowa (2.5 hours); Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. (3 hours); Madison, Wis. (3.5 hours); Rochester, Minn. DEPARTMENT: Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics Department
POSITION: Assistant Professor of Computer Science
STARTING DATE: Fall 2026
DEADLINE: Screening of applicants begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach seven undergraduate courses (usually three in Fall Term, three in Winter Term, and one in May Term); advise departmental majors; consult with students and faculty in areas of expertise; teach in the general education program; perform scholarship and service appropriate to a college with a liberal arts emphasis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
M.S. in Computer Science; qualifications and interest in teaching a variety of introductory and intermediate classes in Computer Science; successful teaching experience and evidence of potential for teaching excellence; interest in interdisciplinary approaches to learning and general education; willingness to support the mission of the college.
CONTRACT: Nine-month contract; tenure track
