Job Details:
The Multimedia Assistant supports UT Computer Science by producing high-quality photography, videography, and design assets that strengthen our brand and help students, faculty, and staff engage with departmental initiatives. This role focuses on visual storytelling, cross-team collaboration, and dependable creative support across our marketing and communications efforts.You will work closely with the Social Media & Design Manager and the marcomm team to deliver polished, consistent work that reflects UTCS's commitment to excellence, innovation, and community.
This appointment runs through the Spring 2026 semester and is open to UT Austin students with a 2.5 GPA or higher who can work 15 hours per week during standard business hours. Preference will be given to candidates who can maintain a consistent weekly schedule. This role is eligible for academic credit if approved by your program.
Responsibilities
1. Photography
  • Capture headshots, portraits, and event photography that meet UTCS visual standards
  • Manage lighting, composition, and post-processing to deliver consistent results
  • Coordinate shoot logistics, communicate timelines, and ensure timely delivery of final assets

2. Videography
  • Support basic video capture for short interviews, event moments, and student-facing content
  • Assist with simple edits such as trimming, sequencing, sound leveling, and captioning
  • Prepare video files for use on social platforms or internal communications

3. Graphic Design & Visual Content
  • Create digital assets, social graphics, email visuals, and templates using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Support brand consistency through clear typography, color, and layout choices
  • Format designs for use across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Bluesky, and the UTCS website

4. Digital Screens (Occasional)
  • Prepare assets for the building's digital signage displays
  • Optimize file sizing and readability for on-screen use
  • Upload approved content as assigned

5. Collaboration & Workflow Management
  • Work with the Social Media and Design Manager to understand project goals and creative direction
  • Coordinate with marcomm teammates across content, design, events and web
  • Track tasks and deliverables through Asana, providing clear updates and flagging issues early

6. Operational & Technical Support
  • Troubleshoot basic design or export issues including file formats, resolution, fonts, and color settings
  • Maintain organized folders for photography, video assets, and design files
  • Uphold reliable weekly commitments and meet deadlines with minimal oversight

Salary Range
$14.00/hour
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong photography skills with DSLR experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Basic video capture and editing ability
  • Understanding of composition, typography, color, and layout
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-directed
  • Ability to manage time across multiple projects

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Premiere Pro or Rush
