Job description:

Food Safety & Quality Assurance Technician.

Are you passionate about food safety, quality, and continuous improvement? We're looking for a detail-oriented Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and integrity of our products from receiving through shipping.

In this hands-on role, you'll work directly on the production floor, monitor critical food safety programs, conduct audits, and help maintain the highest standards of quality in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs), including produce wash water systems, metal detectors, and HACCP documentation.
  • Perform quality inspections on products, packaging, labeling, and finished goods to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct GMP, SSOP, sanitation, and food safety audits throughout the facility.
  • Perform pre-operational and end-of-shift inspections using sensory and instrumental methods.
  • Monitor processing and storage temperatures and verify product specifications.
  • Conduct ATP swabbing during allergen changeovers and support sanitation validation activities.
  • Support production teams by identifying quality concerns and implementing corrective actions.
  • Place products on QA Hold when necessary and communicate findings through accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain records required for HACCP, FDA, and USDA compliance.
  • Promote and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety culture throughout the facility.

What We're Looking ForEducation & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of food manufacturing experience, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Food Technology, or a related field with 0–1 years of industry experience.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, food safety, and quality systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English or Spanish (bilingual is a plus).
  • Basic math and computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize systems such as RedZone and KipTraq.
  • Team-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per shift.
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated, wet, hot, or cold production environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to use all five senses for quality evaluations.
  • Must wear required PPE at all times.
  • Availability to work various shifts, holidays, overtime, and weekends as needed.
